  1. 1:18 If you score the conductor by twisting it in the wire strippers you can create a hot spot by reducing the cross sectional area of the wire.

  2. I find the needle nose portion tends to be best used if you’re applying the movement along the handles of the strippers rather than side to side because some cheaper made strippers (or enough force) will torque the nose enough to make it useless

  3. A lot more info about stripping than i could’ve imagined. Nothing like a good pair of strippers to make your day

  4. Damaging the copper core with the stipper is going to be bad for the wire, it will snap of when bend to much, this is rules 101 in electronics…

  5. The grips were slipping off of my Kleins, so if squeezed some silicone into the grips and on the steel handles to fix them.

  6. You asked what this is called. The specific Klein Tools name seems to be:
Klein-Kurve® Wire Stripper / Cutter, 8-20 AWG product number K11095K11095

  7. I have those but i seldom remember to use them, and just grab a pair of needle nose pliers to make the hook with after stripping the sheathing and the individual wire insulators with a lock back razor knife, lol.

  8. Good information, thank you. If I may offer a little constructive criticism, your camera obviously has autofocus. When you are holding something close to the camera it is helpful to not have objects in the background that can confuse the camera on what to focus upon. I realize it was easier to just set the camera in one position with all the tools on the table and hold each one closer to the camera, but the camera does not always have the close objects in focus, which is distracting. Nothing major, just a little suggestion on how to make a good video better.

  9. I like the Kline Tools strippers the best. Thanks for the tips. Now I know why stripping wire was such a pain. I did it all wrong. The try that one oh crap days are over.

  10. I’ve never had that fancy of a wire stripper in my life, so of course I don’t know. We’re not all Brian Thompson rich.

  11. After watching this I’m wondering if i should buy a better wire stripper. Mine shows AWG on one side and MM on the other.

It also doesn’t have several of the other features.

  12. I appreciate the info. I learned a couple of things. Constructive feedback – The blurry background was quite distracting. Especially since it often went in and out of focus. Consider a neutral background and camera settings with a wider field of focus.

  13. I’m no electrician but you’re not supposed to wiggle the stripper, it damages the wire. Those tiny cuts will weaken the wire. Close strippers and pull out. He even showed the cuts 😐

  14. ‼️”so you can see here”
No. We can’t. Because you’re using autofocus and it won’t settle down. 🤡

  15. 11:15 you used crimper incorrectly. Terminal should be rotated 180’ the hump in crimper should be opposite of the split in the terminal to form proper crimp.
