  1. Generally speaking band saws are more precise than those two, if you need 45 angles and to be square then band saw is must.

  2. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! I would have never thought the cold cut would have been the fastest….. consider me educated now!! Great test.. now I gotta go buy a cold cut saw for shop work. Porta ban will always be best for outside the shop cutting. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  4. The band saw cut a little slower than I expected. I have a DeWalt DWM120 and I was cutting 1/8" thick 1.5" angle iron, and it takes about 10 seconds. DeWalt recommends a 14 to 18 TPI blade for 1/8" material, although they don’t tell you ANYWHERE what blade comes on the saw, and it’s not stamped or printed on the blade either. I could count the teeth, I guess. It wouldn’t change the outcome of the order they finished in, but I do think the bandsaw could cut faster than it did.

  5. Only use light pressure on the cold saw and do not slam it into the workpiece, you will dramatically reduce blade $$$$ life! A true cold saw will operate at about 50 rpm and requires coolant they do the best. A dual counter rotating saw (Harbor Freight) works well too!

  6. Well technically none of them are cold saw. Cold saw is a machine with HSS or sHSS blade what runs around 30 rpm. Machine like CS-315 or similar.

  7. Just make sure you have good penetration on yourbwelds for that bridge…. personally I would find a way to use rivets.

  8. I would rather u ware your glasses then get a piece of metal in your eye , yes inside I’m sorry the people who don’t like him protecting his eyes πŸ€ͺ

  9. ‘ Cold Cut ‘ saw is interesting, I think we all would have liked to hear the price for each blade. Thanks Brock

  10. All things considered, the traditional chop saw is mostly crap in every way: noisy, vibration, dust generation, heat generation, sparks, vibration, the fact that the cutting disc diameter isn’t constant, accuracy, etc The cold chop saw is very accurate and faster but it’s still very noisy and the blades are extremely expensive and not all that durable. The place I buy steel from uses a big band saw for a reason: it’s the quietest, cleanest, very precise and the bands are cheap and durable.

  11. Also on your camera setup, if you want it to focus on something you hold up to it, see if option for "Product Showcase".

  12. Howdy Brock! Well I leaned something new today. Good job explaining the differences and advantages/disadvantages of each saw. Thanks for sharing 🀠

  13. Good morning Brock. I’ve learned something new today. I guess you’re never too old to learn new things. I do have a Mikita abrasive chop saw that I’ve had for well over a quarter century. It works very well but it doesn’t hold a candle to that cold saw. If I was younger I’d probably have one of those by tomorrow but I really don’t do that much heavy steel fabrication anymore. Most of what I do now is thin stuff and sheetmetal. But who knows, Christmas is coming. 😁 Well, God bless and have a wonderful day. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™‚

  14. Some youtube videos claim that the blades do not last long on the TCT saws and they definitely do not last anywhere near what the manufactures boasts. Any comment?

  15. This is an amazing video for someone like me who’s barely starting to get into metal working. Very informative.. Thank you very much!!!

  16. Brock, any large, solid round or bar stock to try cutting with the carbide blade cold saw? Those are amazing for angle iron and tubing, but wondering about thicker, solid stock.
